What is a Transponder?
Transponders where introduced in the mid 90’s to help combat car theft and are made up of a microchip in the head of the key, which is a miniature transmitter & receiver. This microchip communicates with the vehicle’s engine management system and when a correct signal is received the engine is started, however if the signal is incorrect (even if the key turns), the car will not start.
